Pet Portraits and Fine Art by
Carol Matsuyama

Carol studied Fine Arts in New York, majoring in Graphic Design and graduating with a BFA, summa cum laude. This was followed by a career as a Children’s Educational Book Designer of over twenty years.

Today, Carol is an award-winning artist, using acrylics and oils in her Red Trillium Studio in Port Perry. She paints a variety of subjects reflecting the world around her, including the people and places of Durham, the flowers in her garden, and the trilliums that grow in profusion on her wooded property. She has had much success with pet portraits, which she enjoys painting so much!

Carol is a member of the Port Perry Artists’ Association, the Oshawa Art Association, and the Scugog Council for the Arts. Her paintings have been in several
juried shows. She won the
OPG Award at the PRAC show, 2014, Jurors’ Choice at the Uxbridge Juried Show, 2014, and People’s Choice, SCA 2016. Her work has shown in the Robert McLaughlin Gallery, the Kent Farndale Gallery, and The Scugog Arts Resource Centre Gallery. Her art is part of many private collections throughout Canada, the US, and Japan.
